A New Era for Jamaica: Launching the Kingston Fashion District
In May 2021, Jamaica stepped into a new chapter for its fashion industry with the launch of the Kingston Fashion District at the Heart Trust/NTA Garmex Academy. Led by Faith Johnson, Managing Director of Caramel Rock U.K., the initiative marks more than just a physical launch, it represents a nationwide framework for fashion and textiles skills training.
The goal? To bridge Jamaica’s fashion skills gap, nurture new talent, and unlock garment manufacturing opportunities that put Jamaica on the global map.
This incubator is a collective of manufacturers from across Jamaica, coming together to create the island’s only hub leading in both ethical and technical garment innovation.
Our Training Approach
The Fashioning Jamaica project takes a hands-on, experiential learning approach, ensuring participants gain both creative and technical skills. Training is delivered through practical workshops that mirror the entire garment production cycle, preparing learners for real-world roles in fashion and manufacturing.
